I am responsible for the custom Linux operating system running on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.specs.com\/\">SPECS<\/a>. I am an engineering leader and systems architect with over 20 years of software development experience.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, I led the Display and later the OS team at DAQRI, worked on SLAM research at Qualcomm and developed music recommendation technology at OFAI. I hold a PhD in Computer Science from Johannes Kepler University Linz. My <a href=\"\/dominik\/curriculum-vitae\/\">CV<\/a>, <a href=\"\/dominik\/publications\/\">publications<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/patents.google.com\/?inventor=dominik+schnitzer\">patents<\/a> cover more of that work.<\/p>\n<h2>A few more things about me<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>I love traveling and backpacking the world. I&#8217;ve been to Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schnitzer.at\/dominik\/?page_id=32\">India<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schnitzer.at\/dominik\/?page_id=47\">Venezuela<\/a>, Colombia, Paraguay, the US, Egypt and much of Europe.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.schnitzer.at\/dominik\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/about2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-53\" src=\"https:\/\/www.schnitzer.at\/dominik\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/about2.jpg\" alt=\"Hello from Europe!\" width=\"128\" height=\"150\"><\/a><\/li>\n<li>I love open technologies. I organized the Mozilla 1.0 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schnitzer.at\/dominik\/?p=7\">Mozilla Firefox 1.0 party<\/a> sites, participated in linuxvideo.org and contributed to early DVD playback on Linux. I&#8217;ve written patches for projects including Evolution and Mozilla Firefox, and published music research software such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musly.org\/\">Musly<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>I like running and sports.
